Alejandro Olson (guitar) and Mary Margaret Neel (violin) aim to educate, entertain, and inspire audiences with the goal of contributing to the guitar/violin duo repertoire. The York Street Duo transcribes and performs standard (and not so standard) works for guitar and violin. Alejandro Olson is a classical guitarist who has performed concerts and competitions around the world. He won the 1st prizes at Le Domaine Forget International Guitar Competition in Quebec, Canada, and the Grossmont Community Concert Association Competition in San Diego, CA. Alejandro holds a B.M. in guitar performance from Columbus State University and a M.M. from the University of Denver. He is a registered classical guitar teacher with the Suzuki Association of the Americas and has taught privately in California, Georgia, and Colorado.
Striving to use music to inspire people in all walks of life, violinist Mary Margaret Neel has distinguished herself as an accomplished solo violinist, orchestral musician, and teacher. She has had extensive training in the Suzuki Method and is a registered violin teacher with the Suzuki Association of the Americas. Mary Margaret has enjoyed a varied career performing as a member of orchestras in Georgia, Tennessee, Colorado, and China. She has presented several solo recitals and frequently performs for private events. Mary Margaret received a B.M. in violin performance from Columbus State University and a M.M. from the University of Denver.
